In 1928, the General Government decreed the Claretian mission communities in England would be attached to the Claretian U.S.A. Province. The Claretians in England were largely engaged in parish ministry and were able to finance the building of parochial schools to make themselves better known to the laity. By 1936, England was raised to a Visitorship and formally separated from the U.S.A. Province. In the following years, many American Claretians would be sent to staff parishes in England and the eventually, the U.S. Eastern Province and U.K. & Ireland Province co-sponsored the Claretian mission in Guatemala.
