In 1908, the Claretian Missionaries were invited to assume ministry of their first parish in California, San Gabriel Mission, which was known as the Queen of Missions. For years it served as the Congregation’s administrative site and its Campo, became the primary cemetery for the Western Province of the United States. In the following years, the Claretians were invited to assume ministry of two Los Angeles parishes: Our Lady Queen of Angels Church (also known as La Placita) and Our Lady of Solitude.
The Claretians were not contained to Los Angeles, they were also welcomed to the Diocese of San Francisco and ministered at small missions in northern California and, eventually, they established a church in Fresno that they named for the founder of the congregation.
This collection is organized by parish.
